About Change Starts With Her
Change Starts With Her is a civic-information project. We help people — especially women — follow and act on U.S. state legislation that affects reproductive rights, voting access, and related civil rights. We gather bills, legislative activity, and public events from public sources, put them in plain language, and link every item back to where it came from, so you can check it yourself.
We’re early, and still building
This is a young project, and we’re openly still working the rough edges out of the site. If something looks broken, it might be — thank you for your patience.
How the site is built
The site is designed, built, and maintained by Straker Media LLC, our outsourced technology partner. That is an ongoing arrangement — it is the “Powered by Straker Media” credit you see in the footer, and it stays in place as the project grows.
Our organization
Change Starts With Her is becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit. That is with our attorneys now and is not final yet — realistically a few months away. Because the non-profit is not legal yet, Straker Media LLC is for the moment the project’s operating entity too, which is why, for now, anything the site handles runs through it. Once the non-profit is established, it becomes the organization behind Change Starts With Her.
How it’s funded
Right now we are not soliciting donations. Contributions will open once the non-profit is established, and we will be clear at that point about what is and isn’t tax-deductible. When money does come in and go out, we publish it on our transparency page.
Our sources
Legislative and civic data comes from public resources including Open States and Congress.gov, among others. Every claim, bill, and event on the site links to its original source.
